McKenley's newest "trick"

Although she's been doing this for awile, this is the first I've been able to get it on video with such... intensity! haha. It's super cute... until she does it with formula or food in her mouth :)

(No worries, its not sideways like this once you click on it!)

Another First!!! But not a fun one...

Well, add this to this list of firsts...

Saturday morning, McKenley and I, made our way to her first visit to the doctor because she was sick. Casey and I knew it was coming & we are glad we got to wait 6 1/2 months before having a sick baby!!

She woke up Saturday with a nasty cough, much worse than any other cough I've heard from her, so I decided to go ahead and call and make an appointment. We are so lucky to have a doctor that has Saturday hours!!! I'm so glad we decided to go in because the doctor said she had croup cough (or as my mom put it, a bad cough and they don't know what else to call it :) haha). Unfortunately, its a viral infection and absolutely nothing we can do but wait it out! GREAT!! They gave her a steroid shot, which went over FANTASTICALLY, or not, to try and reduce the inflammation in her upper respiratory and sent us on our way.
Caught in the middle of a cough, so sad!

Waiting for her shot :(
Luckily, she wasn't showing any other symptoms, no fever, not much congestion, and was in pretty good spirits, so Casey and I were thinkin, "We can totally handle a sick baby!!" and I left that evening to go see a show with my family. POOR CASEY!! That's all I have to say!! McKenley's mood evidently took a turn for the worse and, to put it nicely, wouldn't cooperate with dad. :( I arrived home at about 10:30pm to find our sick baby asleep on her exhausted daddy.

The last few days have been about the same. The cough has gotten remarkably better, but the congestion has gotten a bit worse.  Poor thing has so much trouble breathing when you lay her down that it takes quite a while to get her to sleep. We have tried sitting in a hot steamy bathroom for a while before bed to loosen up the congestion, but as soon as she starts crying when we lay her down, the congestion is back. We have gone 3 days now with very few naps and waking up quite a bit at night.  One of the only ways we have gotten a nice nap out of her is...

on mom or dad. :/
Hopefully we are over the worst of it, I am definitely ready to have my baby back, the one that goes to sleep when I lay her down and takes nice long naps :)

Solid Foods Update

Well, after a slow start, McKenley has been dominating her solid foods!! She has started eating twice a day, a small amount in the mornings, and a larger portion for dinner. It used to take so long to get a small amount down because she would push most of it out, now that she has gotten the hang of swallowing a more solid substance, we are rockin and rollin!

Likes:
Oatmeal
ALL VEGGIES!! Squash, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, you name it! She loves them!

Dislikes:
Rice cereal
ANNNNDDD, most fruits! Totally backwards!!! We have tried peaches, bananas, apples, and pears... she just doesn't seem to care for them! See the video below to see what I mean! haha

After she finishes her food, she loves sitting in her highchair and chewing on her washrag and spoon! Yes, a simple washrag & spoon seems to provide hours of entertainment for our little princess! haha

All in all, our little girl is getting to be quite the big girl!! We are now working on mastering the sippy cup :)

6 Month Pictures!!!

Today McKenley and I had our first meet-up with a LensBaby group that I recently joined. I was so excited to meet up with some other moms with cameras and adorable kiddos to learn more about how to take beautiful pictures with my amazing new camera!! My hopes were that these pictures would take place of having to take her somewhere else and pay to have pictures made, because lets be honest, I spent a bit of money on those 3 month pictures... :/

Well, I am excited to say that I think the pictures turned out sooo great!!! With a little help from Sarah, I was able to get some of the most beautiful pictures of our little peanut. I will be posting her "official" 6 month post on Friday after we go to the doctors and get her stats. And to my family... I will try and have some prints available on Sunday when I see you all and I can order what I don't have there for you, because lets be honest, I know you're going to want several of these! haha :)

Hope you all enjoy!
